New report says Ben Dreyfuss has claimed he’s estranged from father Richard Dreyfuss
On November 13, 2025, Ben Dreyfuss, a 39-year-old journalist, opened up about his troubled relationship with his father, the famous actor Richard Dreyfuss. In his since-deleted X posts, Ben alleged that he and his siblings, Emily and Harry, had no money from their father’s successful acting career.
“Everyone assumes my siblings and I are wealthy from our dad, and we’re all a bit too uncomfortable to make it clear, but we have no money from my dad,” he wrote on X (via USA Today), “My dad has no money. If he did, we wouldn’t get it since we’ve been estranged ever since some complicated family drama to do with MeToo.”
Ben used to manage Richard’s account during 2017 when the #MeToo movement surfaced. Ben posted a statement supporting his younger brother, Harry, who accused Kevin Spacey of sexual abuse. But this tweet prompted a woman to come forward, accusing Richard Dreyfus, too,
“That tweet prompted someone to MeToo my dad. He blames us for that,” Ben explained, “This led to years of acrimony.”
On November 17, 2025, Ben further asserted his claims of estrangement with his father in his Substack blog, Calm Down. Ben wrote, “I’ve sent plenty since, but he hasn’t replied.” He recalled his last exchange with his father nearly two years ago. He mentioned, “It’s long and pathetic, and he comes off worse than I do, but I’m not exactly covered in glory either.”
Richard Dreyfuss is yet to comment on this.
