No, Julianne Hough and Apolo Anton Ohno were not dating during or after their time on DWTS. As reiterated by both of them on varying occasions, the pair had great chemistry, which was visible on-screen, but never actually dated each other. They have said numerous times that their relationship was strictly professional.
“We have kept our relationship professional from the very beginning,” Ohno had told PEOPLE, “And I think it’s important. We’ve become great friends over the course of the show. I don’t think we’d have it any other way. So no, sorry.”
He said something similar to the New York Post. “There’s nothing to that. Our relationship was strictly professional. It was sometimes goofy, but was strictly professional. We had great chemistry on the dance floor, which is why people think [we’re romantically involved]. It meant I was doing my job [as a dancer],” the former athlete said.
More recently, Hough addressed the affair in her appearance on the In Your Dreams podcast earlier this year. She said, “There’s the whole thing where everybody finds love or hooks up on the show. Everybody thought I was hooking up with my partner, Apolo. Never in a million years.”
