The Weeknd & Amazon Unveil Music Special The Dawn FM Experience

Grammy-winning star The Weeknd has officially partnered with Amazon Studios for an upcoming immersive music special titled The Dawn FM Experience, based on his latest album which launched on January 7. The special will be available for streaming this Saturday, February 26, exclusively on Prime Video.

“I’m ecstatic to partner with Amazon to premiere the most elaborate live TV special I’ve ever done,” The Weeknd said in a statement. “Welcome to the next phase of Dawn FM — a purgatory otherworld where live performance, theater, and performance art collide for a night out at the club.”

The Dawn FM Experience is being described as a “mesmerizing visual,” with The Weeknd “creating a theatrical performance event that will envelop audiences” into the titular album’s “unnerving and moody world.” The special’s music will be available for streaming as an eight-track live EP on Amazon Music. To celebrate the event, an exclusive and limited edition merch capsule will also be dropping on February 25 on its website and in the Amazon Music app, which will only be available to the U.S. audience.

In addition, Prime Video has also released The Dawn FM Experience teaser trailer, which you can check out below, featuring the singer-songwriter as he once again sports an old man look which was first seen by fans as the album’s cover art.

The Dawn FM Experience is created by The Weeknd, La Mar C. Taylor, and director Micah Bickham. Executive producer are Taylor, Jordy Wax and Ed Walker, with XO Records and Contrast Films serving as executive producers.

The Weeknd is best known for his hit songs such as “Earned It,” “Blinding Lights,” Can’t Feel My Face,” “Starboy,” and more. For his second studio album titled Beauty Behind the Madness, he won two Grammy Awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album, and Best R&B Performance. He was also nominated for an Oscar in 2016 for his song “Earned It,” which was the lead single from 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
