Watch the creepy new trailer for Freaks
The first trailer for Freaks has arrived online (via Slash Film) and it’s … bizarre. There’s not much in the way of story to be seen in the rather brief bit of footage we get, but there’s plenty of disturbing scenery, and a very quick glimpse at the great Bruce Dern (Nebraska).
Not much is known about Freaks, except that it is a “genre-bending pychological sci-fi thriller” in which “a bold girl discovers a bizarre, threatening, and mysterious new world beyond her front door after she escapes her father’s protective and paranoid control.”
The site further explains the plot thusly: “In this inventive and powerful science-fiction thriller, a disturbed father locks his 7-year-old daughter in a house, warning her of grave dangers outside. But the mysterious Mr. Snowcone convinces the girl to escape and join him on a quest for family, freedom, and revenge.”
Emile Hirsch (Lone Survivor) headlines the picture alongside Lexa Kolker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Amanda Crew (The Age of Adaline), Grace Park (Hawaii Five-O) and the aforementioned Dern.
Freaks is written and directed by Zach Lipovsky (Leprechaun: Origins) and Adam B. Stein, and will make its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.
