The Little Stranger Trailer & Poster Reveal Delusions are Contagious

Focus Features has released the official trailer and poster for their upcoming horror movie The Little Stranger, adapted by writer Lucinda Coxon (The Danish Girl) from the 2009 novel of the same name by Sarah Waters. Check out the trailer in the player below, and the new poster in the gallery!

The Little Stranger tells the story of Dr. Faraday (Domhnall Gleeson), the son of a housemaid, who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. During the long hot summer of 1948, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. But it is now in decline and its inhabitants — mother, son, and daughter — are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. When he takes on his new patient, Faraday has no idea how closely, and how disturbingly, the family’s story is about to become entwined with his own.

The feature is directed by Lenny Abrahamson (Room) and stars Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Ruth Wilson (The Affair), Will Poulter (The Revenant), and Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (45 Years, Red Sparrow). Gail Egan, Ed Guiney, and Andrea Calderwood serve as producers. Executive producers include Pathé’s Cameron McCracken, Film4’s Daniel Battsek, Irish Film Board’s Celine Haddad, Ingenious’ Tim O’Shea, and Element’s Andrew Lowe.

The Little Stranger arrives in theaters on August 31, 2018.
