New Trailer and Featurette for Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit

Annapurna Pictures has released a new Detroit trailer and historical featurette, which you can both view below. From the Academy Award-winning director of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, Detroit tells the gripping story of one of the most terrifying moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit in the summer of ’67.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, Detroit offers a crime drama set against the backdrop of Detroit’s 1967 riots, a gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit during that summer. The August 4 release date will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the riots.

The film stars an ensemble cast comprised of John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, Jason Mitchell, Hannah Murray, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, Ben O’Toole, Joseph David Jones, Ephraim Sykes, Leon Thomas III, Nathan Davis Jr., Peyton Alex Smith, Malcolm David Kelley, Gbenga Akinnabve, Chris Chalk, Jeremy Strong, Laz Alonzo, Austin Hebert, Miguel Pimentel, Kris Davis, with John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie.

Detroit is the second feature collaboration between Annapurna and Kathryn Bigelow, who previously worked together, alongside Boal, on the Oscar-winning film, Zero Dark Thirty. Bigelow is producing the film with Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman. Mark Boal, who penned the script, and Colin Wilson are also producers with Greg Shapiro executive producing.
