XX Clips: Two Looks at the Horror Anthology

Check out two new XX clips from the all-women-directed horror anthology

Two new clips were released for the all female-directed horror anthology XX, one from Karyn Kusama (The Invitation) and one from Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound). XX has been in gestation since 2013 and recently released a trailer. for the film. XX premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and will also feature stories from Annie Clark, otherwise known as St. Vincent, Jovanka Vuckovic (Self Portrait) and Sofia Carrillo (Out of Control). XX will have a theatrical and VOD release via Magnet Releasing.

XX is a new all-female helmed horror anthology featuring four dark tales written and directed by fiercely talented women: Annie Clark (aka singer/songwriter/performer St. Vincent) rocks her directorial debut with The Birthday Party; Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Jennifer’s Body) exorcises Her Only Living Son; Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound) screams Don’t Fall; and Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird) dares to open The Box. Award-winning animator Sofia Carrillo (La Casa Triste) wraps together four suspenseful stories of terror featuring a cast including Natalie Brown, Melanie Lynskey, Breeda Wool and Christina Kirk.

In Bad Boy, directed by Kusama, we have two mothers arguing in front of a principal about the horrific act of violence one of the children did to the other. In Get Out, directed by Benjamin, something terrifying is trying to break into a home. Fans of the TV show Powerless will recognize Christina Kirk in the first clip in a very different role. ComingSoon.net recently spoke to Vuckovic, one of the creators of the anthology (along with Todd Brown of XYZ Films) recently, and she explained, “XX is a direct response to the lack of opportunities for women in film – in the horror genre in particular.”

XX will open in select theaters and on VOD on February 17th.
