I can’t tell… does anyone actually care about Zoolander 2, or is it something that will encourage jokes on social media and then no one will end up seeing it come the film’s February 12, 2016 release date?
From my perspective, I’d actually never seen this film until a few years ago after so many told me how funny it was. Ben Stiller‘s schtick in the role of Derek, a brain dead male model — or, as the synopsis for the upcoming sequel tells us, a model with “3% Body Fat. 1% Brain Activity.” — all that appealing. The movie, however, was quite funny in that “so dumb it’s funny” kind of way. My interest in a sequel, however, is limited… though the rumored plot surrounding Derek getting hired to be a personal model for an Arab Sheikh only to find out models are being turned into oil does give me a laugh.
Justin Theroux is directing and along with Stiller, the film will co-star Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Penélope Cruz, Billy Zane, Justin Bieber, Olivia Munn, Kristen Wiig, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian along with what will likely be several more celebrity cameos. Check out the teaser trailer below.
