First Trailer for ‘The Leftovers’ Season Two Moves to Texas, Departures… Zero

I stopped watching HBO’s “The Leftovers“, I just couldn’t maintain any level of interest, but I guess the second season might be worth giving a shot, especially since they seem to essentially be rebooting the series.

Today the first trailer for the second season arrived, but first here’s the logline:

More than three years ago, 2% of the world’s population inexplicably vanished. 140 million people, gone in an instant. No country, no state, no city was spared, except for one small town in eastern Texas. Population: 9261. Departures: Zero.

Wait, what? No departures, but didn’t a bunch of people from the fictional New York city of Mapleton dep— Ahhhh, eastern Texas… Yes, the show is moving locations and, in some ways, starting anew. I say “in some ways” because Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka and Carrie Coon are all staying on and the presumption is they will just be packing up and moving to this new city, Jarden, Texas and this first trailer suggests exactly where that story might begin.

“The Leftovers” returns to HBO this fall.
