Shyamalan Channels a Little ‘Paranormal Activity’ in Second Trailer for ‘The Visit’

Yesterday brought us the first domestic trailer for M. Night Shyamalan‘s newest thriller The Visit and today we have a new international version with some additional footage.

Now I only skimmed through this thing, but it looks to me like Shyamalan is attempting to capture some of that Paranormal Activity dread, most notably in the scene where we see one character on security camera just opening and closing a door (Why is she doing that!?!?!?!) and then a little Blair Witch (and every other found footage film since) use of flashlights as the only source of light. And he appears to be mixing that in with traditional narrative storytelling for what has been described as a micro budget feature. All that to say, I’m down.

The film arrives on Sept. 11, have a look at this new trailer below.

Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable) and producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge and Insidious series) welcome you to Universal Pictures’ The Visit. Shyamalan returns to his roots with the terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a week-long trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.
