New Line has snatched up one of the newest Blumhouse horror productions, this one titled The Gallows from writer/director duo Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff starring Cassidy Gifford, Ryan Shoos, Reese Mishler and Pfeifer Brown, all going by their actual first names in a little backstage horror. Here’s the plot:
Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy – but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone.
Jumping on the radar out of nowhere, it seems studios have no choice but to pick up films from Jason Blum’s production house as they can either turn into Paranormal Activity or even Whiplash. As for The Gallows, the film hits theaters on July 10, watch the trailer below.
