Blumhouse Productions and Focus Features unveiled the first look at Sinister 2 this weekend at WonderCon in the form of the above “hangman” title treatment and the following, 17-second teaser with the promise of the film’s first official trailer this Thursday, April 9.
Sinister 2 is the sequel to the surprise hit that takes place in the aftermath of the shocking events of the first film as a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Buhguul continues to spread with frightening intensity. James Ransone, who portrayed the concerned sheriff’s deputy in Sinister, will reprise his character.
Screenwriters Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are back to pen the script, but Derrickson hands off directing duties to Ciaran Foy (“Citadel”).
