Over the weekend I received my screener copy of the upcoming May 5 Blu-ray release of the original Mad Max, a film I’ve seen only once before. In fact, I’ve only seen The Road Warrior once before and have never seen Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. I’m thinking I need to revisit the first two and get acquainted with Thunderdome before I sit down with Mad Max: Fury Road on May 15. Fortunately, there’s more than enough time between now and then to do just that, but that doesn’t mean Warner Bros. isn’t promoting the hell out of this movie.

The movie finds Tom Hardy stepping into the shoes of Mel Gibson to take over as Max Rockatansky. The desert wastelands are still rife with motorized gangs in this fourth chapter of the Mad Max legend as Max encounters a group of refugees fleeing for their lives, he joins them and their fiery leader, Furiosa (Charlize Theron). Zoe Kravitz, Adelaide Clemens, Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Megan Gale and Abbey Lee co-star.
