Maggie was supposed to premiere at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, then Lionsgate picked it up before the fest and pulled it from the lineup. Now it’s slated for a May 8 release, just a couple weeks after it premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival at the end of April. What was Lionsgate attempting to hide?
The film finds Arnold Schwarzenegger playing a Midwestern farmer who stays by the side of his beloved teenage daughter (Abigail Breslin) even as she slowly turns into a cannibalistic zombie. The film is being described as a “daring, genre-bending debut” for director Henry Hobson and now is our first chance to see what this one is all about.
Watch the first trailer for Maggie below. Oh, and don’t expect too much gore, this one is only rated PG-13.
