Watch the New Trailer for Disney’s ‘Big Hero 6’

I think it’s fair to say 2014 has been a down year for animation. Aside from The LEGO Movie in February (which I didn’t care for much), nothing has really made an impact. I still have to remind myself How To Train Your Dragon 2 was a movie that came out this year. However, after the massive success of Frozen last year, Disney is back again with Big Hero 6, which just had a new trailer released.

This is apparently based on a Marvel comic book team. I was completely unfamiliar with it until this movie was announced, as I am sure many of you out there were. The film is about a child robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada (Ryan Potter) who forms a bond with a giant, inflatable robot named Baymax (Scott Adsit). They gather up some friends, I’m guessing four, to form a group of high-tech heroes. The film also features the voices of Genesis Rodriguez, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans Jr., Maya Rudolph, and Alan Tudyk (who was also in Frozen).

Based on the new trailer, the film looks like it could be fun. Some of the comedy bits had me groaning, but the same could be said for the Frozen trailer, which is a film I love. I will be seeing this at the Austin Film Festival in about a month, and I hope this turns out to be a nice surprise. Disney has raised their quality bar much higher over the past couple of years, and this could hover around it. Or it could be another Meet The Robinsons… I hope not.
