‘Ghostbusters’ 30th Anniversary Trailer, Back in Theaters in August

As a child I loved Ghostbusters. I was seven-years-old when it was released in theaters in 1984, but I can’t tell you the last time I watched it, but watching this 30th anniversary trailer got me excited to do just that and it’s heading back into theaters on August 29, followed by a new 4K digitally restored Blu-ray release of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II on September 16.

[amz asin=”B00KUS5YGC” size=”small”]It’s interesting to see just how much different the comedic sensibilities were in the ’80s whereas now something’s not deemed funny unless you’re a) self-aware to the point of annoyance or b) saying the word “fuck” every ten seconds. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a time and a place for both those things, but in moderation, something so many of today’s comedies can’t seem to figure out.

I’m sure Sony is also using the time to test the waters for the long-in-development Ghostbusters 3, which they can’t quite seem to get off the ground, but seems to be getting closer and closer to being an actual release.

So, you going to go see this one again when it hits theaters? I think I just might.
