So apparently I didn’t read the first email from New Line properly when it came to the Into the Storm “trailer” I posted yesterday. That was only a trailer for the trailer that would be online today… and here it is in all its destructive glory.
Into the Storm is a new 3D, tornado disaster feature directed by Steven Quayle and starring Richard Armitage (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug), Sarah Wayne Callies (“The Walking Dead”), Matt Walsh (Ted), Alycia Debnam-Carey (Where the Devil Hides), Arlen Escarpeta (Final Destination 5), Nathan Kress (“iCarly”), Jon Reep (Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay) and Jeremy Sumpter (Soul Surfer ).
I just skimmed through the trailer and saw a lot of destruction, fiery twisters and planes being taken out. I guess when a film focuses on disaster and destruction it actually makes sense the antagonist would be a tornado. The question is, if it’s going to center the action around what the synopsis describes as “professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs and courageous townspeople”, will they remember people are showing up for the destruction and not half-assed characters or will they try and pick together some silly rescue mission to “humanize” it?
