I only skimmed through this new trailer for The Quiet Ones, the upcoming Hammer Films horror starring Jarred Harris as a university professor who recruits some students to help him conduct a series of experiments on a young possessed girl (Olivia Cooke), but it looks to have a lot of similar beats we’ve seen in recent possession-based films. Like those it also purports to be based on a true story, which means this one is coming down to the screenplay and direction. Will it rely on jump scares, atmosphere or just that overall creepy factor that makes you a little less skeptical about it’s supposed “real life” origins?
The other thing it has going against it is the story’s similarities to the awful 2012 horror The Apparition, which centered on a couple haunted by a supernatural presence that is unleashed during a college experiment.
So-starring is Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and the film is set for an April 25 release. Check the trailer out below.
