I don’t watch trailers and yet, I feel I have seen about a hundred trailers for Bryan Singer‘s Jack the Giant Slayer. Delayed almost a year, the film has a stench of desperation surrounding it and as we inch closer to that March 1 release date I am getting the feeling we’re in for one massive belly flop.
Serving as a revisionist’s take on the “Jack and the Beanstalk” tale, the film features Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) as the titular Jack as the story of an ancient war is told in which a young farmhand (Hoult) unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself.
Along with Hoult, the film co-stars Ewan McGregor, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Bill Nighy, John Kassir and Ian McShane.
The curious thing about continually releasing trailers for a movie no one really seems interested in seeing is that you are merely preaching to the choir at some point… It would seem Warner Bros. has reached that point with Jack the Giant Slayer.
Check out the new trailer below… if necessary.
