Watch First Trailer for ‘Mud’ Starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon

Roadside Attractions has brought online the first trailer for Mud from Take Shelter director Jeff Nichols. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year, the morning after I had already left so I have not yet had a chance to see it, but I have heard plenty of good things.

The film stars Matthew McConaughey as the title character, a man on the run for a crime of passion who forms a friendship with a 14-year-old boy named Ellis (Tye Sheridan) and his friend Neckbone (Jacob Lofland). The two first meet when Ellis and has best friend are exploring the nearby Mississippi river and discover a deserted island where they encounter Mud, a dirty, desperate yet oddly compelling stranger. With bounty hunters are closing in, the boys conspire to aid Mud in his escape and reunite him with the love of his life, Juniper (Reese Witherspoon).

Roadside is taking the film to the Sundance Film Festival where it will play on Saturday, January 19 before hitting theaters on April 26. Check out the trailer directly below and if you missed it last year, I have two clips from the film right here.
