So there is an attempt to drum up some controversy over the torture scenes in Kathryn Bigelow‘s Zero Dark Thirty, which I am not entirely convinced didn’t probably begin with the folks at Sony. But no big deal, I don’t care about silly talk. Instead all I will say is Zero Dark Thirty is a great film with several fantastic performances, particularly from Jessica Chastain and Jason Clarke.
I also wanted you to know, as you watch this final trailer prior to the film’s upcoming release, any time you see the green glow of night vision used for the film, that was actually done on set, not in post. Bigelow and cinematographer Greig Fraser attached night vision lenses to the camera to get the authentic look she was going for.
Bigelow told Mark Harris at Vulture in a fantastic interview you really ought to read, “You just can’t artificially create it… When I look through night-vision goggles, I see the way light sparkles on whatever particulate matter is in the air — it creates a kind of exquisite filmic haze”
Zero Dark Thirty hits New York and Los Angeles theaters on December 19 and will expand nationwide in January.
