I was unable to see Sarah Polley‘s latest film Take this Waltz at the Toronto Film Festival last year due to scheduling issues, and from those that did see it I heard a wide range of opinions, but it also sounded like something major studios would stay away from, which is why it’s no surprise it landed at Magnolia.
One of the main comments about the film was that it was rather sexually graphic and the R-rating for “language, some strong sexual content and graphic nudity” seems to confirm that. Starring Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen, the story centers on 28-year-old Margot (Williams) who lives in Toronto with her husband Lou (Rogen) who writes cookbooks featuring recipes for chicken dishes. When she meets Daniel (Luke Kirby) who lives across the street, there is an immediate connection between them. Although she stays faithful to Lou, her attraction to the seemingly perfect Daniel intensifies until she realizes something about herself and has to tell Lou about her feelings.
Magnolia is set to release the film on June 29 and they just debuted the trailer which you can watch directly below.
