‘A Thousand Words’ Teaser Trailer Brings More Eddie Murphy into Your Life

Eddie Murphy has been making the news recently not for his latest film, Tower Heist, which failed to live up to box-office expectations last weekend, but for his departure as Oscar host after his Tower Heist director, Brett Ratner, resigned following a swirl of PR gaffs.

Now, you have a whole new reason to talk about Murphy, but judging by comments I’ve been reading all morning this new trailer for Murphy’s A Thousand Words, which was ironically dated on for March 23, 2012 to take advantage of his Oscar hosting duties, it doesn’t appear as if it will be one of his most shining moments.

The synopsis goes like this:

Jack McCall is a fast-talking literary agent who can close any deal, any time, any way. He has set his sights on New Age guru Dr. Sinja for his own selfish purposes. But Dr. Sinja is on to him, and Jack’s life comes unglued after a magical Bodhi tree mysteriously appears in his backyard. With every word Jack speaks, a leaf falls from the tree and he realizes that when the last leaf falls, both he and the tree are toast. Words have never failed Jack McCall, but now he’s got to stop talking and conjure up some outrageous ways to communicate or he’s a goner.

The film co-stars Allison Janney, Clark Duke, Cliff Curtis, Jack McBrayer and Kerry Washington and is directed by Murphy’s Meet Dave and Norbit helmer, Brian Robbins. Check out the trailer below and leave your thoughts in the comments.
