If I were to make an opinion on Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes based on the little snippets of trailer footage I have watched I would say they are going WAY overboard on the mistreatment of animals angle. From sad simian faces to squirting them with fire hoses to shocking them and the “They’re not humans you know” kind of talk just looks like it is going to beat us over the head until we shout at the screen, “We get it! We treated them poorly and now they’re rising against us!”
I’m getting even more of that from this new international trailer along with the alternative angle, the nice guy who gets screwed because other people are so mean. Have a look and tell me what you think. I will say this, if the film achieves nothing else, the effects at least are phenomenal.
Set in present-day San Francisco, Rise of the Planet of the Apes reveals the origins of a war that ultimately led to a global apocalypse – and to Earth becoming the Planet of the Apes. The film hits theaters on August 5.
