The “3D” part of Step Up 3D does not have me interested in the slightest, but I thought Step Up 2 the Streets was a stupid, but oh-so-fun. I mean, you can’t beat a movie when the elements conspire to your benefit and a dance mat is placed over asphalt helping you maintain footing whilst you dance in the pouring rain to beats supplied by Timbaland. What more can you ask for? Yes, a weak spot of mine, but I’m proud of it (although the first Step Up was not so good).
Now, there’s Step Up 3D and not only will they be dancing in the rain, but that rain will be slapping you square in the face. Step Up 2 director John Chu is back for the second one, which hits theaters on August 6 and stars yet another fleet of no names and I don’t expect Channing Tatum to once again make a cameo as a group of street dances find themselves pitted against the world’s best hip hop dancers in a high-stakes showdown that will change their lives forever. Oh man, you gotta love it… Street vs. Hip Hop? Sign me up…
