What is Tea Creek about?

“For Indigenous Food Sovereignty activist Jacob Beaton, the current reality of Indigenous Food Sovereignty has pushed him into action,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “In just 3 short years, Jacob has transformed his family farm into Tea Creek, an Indigenous Food Sovereignty training center with a mission to bring back the abundance that once defined Turtle Island. But for Jacob and his team, getting here has been hard fought. Faced with accessing funding, the effects of the climate crisis, and the ongoing impacts of intergenerational trauma, Jacob is constantly battling to keep Tea Creek afloat.”

Tea Creek is set to have its premiere at DOXA, the Documentary Film Festival, which is set to take place from May 2-12, 2024 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
