Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a new trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the latest chapter in the Ghostbusters franchise following 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The footage sees an ancient, evil spirit with the “power to kill by fear itself” awakened from its slumber.

What is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire about?

“In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

The film is directed by Gil Kenan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jason Reitman. Reitman directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, while his father, Ivan Reitman, directed 1984’s Ghostbusters and 1989’s Ghostbusters II. Paul Feig, meanwhile, directed the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Potts, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim.

Both Jason and Ivan Reitman produce Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire with Jason Blumenfeld, while Kenan, Aykroyd, JoAnn Perritano, Amie Karp, Erica Mills, and Eric Reich serve as executive producers.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire releases in United States movie theaters on March 22, 2024, from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
