Monkey Man Trailer Previews Jordan Peele-Produced Action Movie

The first Monkey Man trailer for Dev Patel‘s feature directorial debut movie has been released, previewing the intense action thriller. The film, which is produced by Jordan Peele, is set to release in theaters on Friday, April 5.

“Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash,” reads the movie’s synopsis. “After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.”

Who stars in Monkey Man?

In addition to directing and writing the story, Patel also stars in Monkey Man alongside Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Sobhita Dhulipala, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, and Makarand Deshpande.

The screenplay is by Patel, Paul Angunawela, and John Collee, and the film was produced by Dev Patel, Jomon Thomas, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christine Haebler, and Anjay Nagpal.
