HBO has released the first trailer for David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived.
David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived is a new documentary about a stuntman who was seriously injured during the production of 2010’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. The trailer, shared on HBO’s YouTube page, sees Daniel Radcliffe and others talk about what occurred on set that day before it then dives into Holmes’ life after the accident.
“It is unfair,” Radcliffe says in the trailer. “He shouldn’t have had to do any of that In my mind, Dave’s indestructible. This terrible thing happened to Dave, but I don’t want to talk as if his life is a tragedy. The way his life has affected the lives of people around him means that it is the furthest thing from that imaginable.”

What is David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived about?
“As Daniel and his closest stunt colleagues rally to support David and his family in their moment of need, it is David’s extraordinary spirit of resilience that becomes their greatest source of strength and inspiration,” the official synopsis reads.
David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived is directed by Dan Hartley. Radcliffe and Holmes both serve as executive producers on the film with Hartley, Sue Latimer, Sarah Spahovic, Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, Tina Nguyen, and Poppy Dixon. Producing the film are Simon Chinn, Jonathan Chinn, Vanessa Davies, and Amy Stares.
Prior to the accident, Holmes was Radcliffe’s stunt double on all of the films in the Harry Potter franchise, beginning with 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. In 2020, Holmes and Radcliffe launched a podcast together, Cunning Stunts, where they highlight and interview stunt performers working in the entertainment industry.
David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived premieres on Max on November 15, 2023.
