Lionsgate has released an official clip from 2024’s The Strangers: Chapter 1, giving fans their first glimpse of the upcoming home invasion horror trilogy.
Coming out of New York Comic Con, Lionsgate has posted the first official clip of The Strangers: Chapter 1. The footage sees Madelaine Petsch answer a knock at the door late one night. Initially assuming it’s her fiancé, Petsch’s character quickly comes to learn someone far more dangerous is lurking outside — only, they aren’t staying outside for very long.

What is The Strangers: Chapter 1 about?
“Madelaine Petsch (TV’s Riverdale) stars as a young woman on a road trip with her fiancé,” the official synopsis reads. “But when they stop at a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a vicious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason, and must use courage and cunning to survive one long, terrifying night.”
Discussing how The Strangers: Chapter 1 connects to 2008’s The Strangers (which, itself, was based on two separate real-life events), director Renny Harlin recently told Entertainment Weekly, “[The Strangers: Chapter 1] is close to the original movie in its set-up of a young couple in an isolated environment in a house and a home invasion happening for random reasons.”
The Strangers: Chapter 1 kicks off a new trilogy for Lionsgate. The Strangers: Chapter 2 and The Strangers: Chapter 3 were shot simultaneously with the first chapter, and all three movies are expected to be released in 2024.
Harlin previously directed 1988’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, 1990’s Die Hard 2, 1999’s Deep Blue Sea, and 2004’s Exorcist: The Beginning. Starring in The Strangers: Chapter 1 alongside Petsch are From Gutierrez, Rachel Shenton, Gabriel Basso, and Ema Horvath.
