Who’s Involved in The Holdovers?

The Holdovers is directed by Oscar winner Alexander Payne from a screenplay written by David Hemmingson. This marks directorial comeback after six years since 2017’s sci-fi dramedy Downsizing. The film will be led by Paul Giamatti (Billions) as Paul Hunham, Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Idol) as Mary, Carrie Preston (True Blood) as Lydia Crane, Gillian Vigman (The Hangover) as Judy, Tate Donovan (Argo) as Stanley, Michael Provost (Insatiable) as Jason Smith, and Brady Hepner (The Black Phone) as Teddy Kountze, with newcomer Dominic Sessa as Angus.

“It follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go,” reads the synopsis. “Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Randolph).”

The film is executive produced by Andrew Golov, Thom Zadra, and Chris Stinson, with Mark Johnson, Bill Block, and Hemingson set as producers.
