Vengeance Trailer: B.J. Novak Directs and Stars in Dark Comedy Film

Focus Features has released the official Vengeance trailer for B.J. Novak’s forthcoming feature directorial debut, starring The Office alum as a podcaster investing the conspiracy surrounding the death of a girl he previously hooked up with. The film is scheduled to make its debut in theaters on July 29.

Its current theatrical release will see the dark comedy film going up against two high-profile competitors in the form of Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC League of Super-Pets and Sony Pictures’ action thriller Bullet Train.

Vengeance is written and directed by Novak. Joining the Emmy nominee is an all-star cast consisting of Issa Rae, Ashton Kutcher, Boyd Holbrook, J. Smith-Cameron, and Dove Cameron. The film is produced by Jason Blum, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath.

“It is a darkly comic thriller about Ben Manalowitz, a journalist and podcaster who travels from New York City to West Texas to investigate the death of a girl he was hooking up with,” reads the synopsis.

Novak is best known for his work on the popular sitcom The Office, where he served as a cast member, writer, and director. He recently created an anthology series for FX titled The Premise, which he also co-wrote and co-directed.
