Wendell & Wild Cast Revealed for Netflix’s Key & Peele-Led Animated Film

Netflix has announced the full Wendell & Wild cast for Henry Selick’s stop-motion animated horror-comedy, which will be led by long-time collaborators Keegan-Michael Key and Oscar winner Jordan Peele. The film is currently slated to make its debut this October.

Joining the titular demon brothers are Lyric Ross (This Is Us, Ironheart) as Kat, Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) as Sister Helley, James Hong (Kung Fu Panda films) as Father Bests, and Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible films, Lilo & Stitch films) as Buffalo Belzer. The announcement also came with the released of a new teaser, which you can check out below, featuring our first look at their fun characters.

The film will also feature the voices of Sam Zelaya as Raul, Seema Virdi as Sloan, Tamara Smart as Siobhan, and Ramona Young as Sweetie along with Natalie Martinez, Tantoo Cardinal, Gabrielle Dennis, Igal Naor, David Harewood, Maxine Peake, Gary Gatewood.

Described as a dark fantasy horror-comedy, Wendell & Wild is directed by Coraline and The Night Before Christmas filmmaker Henry Selick from a screenplay he co-wrote with Peele. The character designs of the stop-motion film is handled by Argentinian artist Pablo Lobato

“It is an animated tale about scheming demon brothers Wendell (Key) and Wild (Peele) – who enlist the aid of 13-year-old Kat Elliot – a tough teen with a load of guilt – to summon them to the Land of the Living,” reads the synopsis. “But what Kat demands in return leads to a brilliantly bizarre and comedic adventure like no other, an animated fantasy that defies the laws of life and death, all told through the hand-made artistry of stop motion.”

Wendell & Wild is produced by Selick, Peele, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, and Sarah Serata. Executive producers are Win Rosenfeld for Monkeypaw, Peter Principato and Joel Zadak for Principato-Young, Lindsay Williams and Eddie Gamarra for The Gotham Group

This marks the latest collaboration between Key and Peele, who have gained recognition through their titular Comedy Central sketch comedy show. They’ve both provided voice works on animated films such as 2016’s Storks, and 2019’s Toy Story 4.
