Last Night in Soho Clip & Featurette Unveiled Ahead of Next Week’s Debut

Focus Features has released a brand new Last Night in Soho clip and featurette for Edgar Wright’s long-delayed psychological thriller. In addition, the studio has also dropped the music video for Anya Taylor-Joy’s soulful rendition of the song “Downtown (Downtempo),” from the film’s official soundtrack. The film had its world premiere at the 2021 Venice International Film Festival, and is currently slated to arrive in theaters on October 29.

The behind-the-scenes featurette includes a commentary from Wright as he talks about his inspiration and vision for the project, describing it as a departure from his previous films. As for the clip, it gives us a glimpse into one of Eloise’s time-hopping sequences a she gets to observe the first meeting between Matt Smith’s Jack and Anya Taylor-Joy’s Sandie.

Last Night in Soho is directed by Edgar Wright from a screenplay he co-wrote with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Penny Dreadful). The film is led by Thomasin McKenzie (Leave No TraceJojo Rabbit), Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), and Emmy nominee Matt Smith (The Crown).

“In the psychological thriller,  Eloise, an aspiring fashion designer, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s London where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer, Sandie,” reads the synopsis. “But the glamour is not all it appears to be and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something far darker.”

Joining the main cast are Rita Tushingham, Terence Stamp, Jessie Mei Li, Michael Ajao, Synnøve Karlsen, Lisa McGrills, Margaret Nolan, and the late veteran actress Diana Rigg in her final film following her death in September of 2020 at the age of 82.

From Focus Features and Working Title Films, Last Night in Soho is described as in the same vein as Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion. Producers are Nira Park, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Wright. Focus Features and Universal Pictures International will distribute the film worldwide.
