The Night House Trailer Previews Searchlight’s Psychological Horror Film

Searchlight Pictures has released The Night House trailer for David Bruckner’s forthcoming psychological horror film, starring Rebecca Hall. The video features Hall’s character getting tormented by a powerful unseen force. Originally scheduled for a July 2021 release, the film is now been scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 20.

Its current theatrical release date sees The Night House going up against another horror film in the form of Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi horror Demonic as well as Warner Bros. Pictures’ sci-fi drama Reminiscence starring Hugh Jackman.

Reeling from the unexpected death of her husband, Beth is left alone in the lakeside home he built for her, trying her best to keep herself together—but then the dreams come. Disturbing visions of a presence in the house call to her, beckoning with a ghostly allure, but the harsh light of day washes away any proof of a haunting. Against the advice of her friends, she begins digging into his belongings, yearning for answers, only to find secrets both strange and terrible and a mystery she’s determined to resolve.

The Night House stars Rebecca Hall (Godzilla vs. Kong) as Beth, Sarah Goldberg (Barry) as Claire, Stacy Martin (Vox Lux) as Madelyne, Evan Jonigkeit (The Empty Man)  as Owen, and Vondie Curtis-Hall (Marvel’s Daredevil) as Mel.

The Night House is directed by David Bruckner (The Signal, The Ritual) from a script written by Ben Collins (Super Dark Times) and Luke Piotrowski (Super Dark Times). The film had its world premiere more than a year ago at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where it was shortly acquired by Searchlight Pictures.
