Netflix and Studiocanal have released the official trailers for Augustine Frizzell’s upcoming film adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ romance drama novel titled The Last Letter From Your Lover, starring Felicity Jones and Shailene Woodley.
The videos, which you can check out below, highlight the forbidden love affair between a 1960s couple told through their old love letters found by a present-day journalist. The film will be available for streaming on July 23 as part of the streamer’s summer movie lineup. Meanwhile, Studiocanal will be releasing the film in cinemas in the UK and Ireland, starting August 6.
The Last Letter From Your Lover tells a dual-narrative love story set between London and the Riviera during two different periods of time. It centers around a young female journalist named Ellie in contemporary London as she uncovers a series of love letters in the archives. She finds out that the letters are about an intensely romantic but star-crossed affair in the 1960s between Jennifer Stirling and Anthony O’Hare. As Ellie is drawn into the story, she becomes obsessed with discovering the lovers’ identities and finding out how their love story ends.
The film will star Oscar nominee Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) as Ellie and Golden Globe nominee Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies) as Jennifer, along with Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) as Anthony and Joe Alwyn (The Favourite) as Laurence. It will also feature Nabhaan Rizwan, Ncuti Gatwa, Diana Kent, and Ben Cross.
Based on Jojo Moyes’s 2010 novel, The Last Letter From Your Lover is directed by Augustine Frizzell (Never Goin’ Back, Euphoria) from a screenplay adapted by Nick Payne and Esta Spalding. It is a production by Studiocanal and Blueprint Pictures in partnership with The Film Farm. Producers are Blueprint’s Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent alongside The Film Farm’s Simone Urdl and Jennifer Weiss.
