Thunder Force Trailer: Melissa McCarthy & Octavia Spencer Become Superheroes

Netflix has released the official Thunder Force trailer for Ben Falcone’s upcoming action comedy film which will be available for streaming April 9. The video features Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer’s Lydia and Emily, former best friends who suddenly gained superpowers through the magic of science. As they become unlikely superheroes, the two of them must band together to stop criminals and super-villains from terrorizing the world. The trailer also features our first look at some of the film’s villains including MCU alum Pom Klementieff, Bobby Cannavale and Jason Bateman. In a world terrorized by super-villains, one woman has developed the process to give superpowers to regular people. But when scientist Emily Stanton accidentally imbues her estranged best-friend with incredible abilities, the two women must become the first superhero team. Now, it is up to Thunder Force to battle the super-powered Miscreants and save Chicago from the clutches of The King.

The film stars Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures), Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Jason Bateman (Ozark), Melissa Leo (The Fighter), and Tyler Jackson Williams (Brockmire).

Thunder Force is written and directed by Ben Falcone, who is also set to appear in the film. It is produced by Falcone, McCarthy and Marc Platt.

In addition to Thunder Force, McCarthy and Falcone are also working with Netflix on a brand new workplace comedy series titled God’s Favorite Idiot which will be star the both of them. The married duo’s notable works together where Falcone served as a director include: Tammy, The Boss, Life of the Party, and the recently released HBO Max film Superintelligence. Other notable works where they get to share the screen together are Bridesmaids, Identity Thief, The Heat, The Happytime Murders, and Can You Ever Forgive Me?.
