John Bronco teaser introduces Walton Goggins as the greatest Ford pitchman
The official teaser for director Jake Szymanski’s forthcoming mockumentary short film titled John Bronco has been released, featuring Emmy-nominated actor Walton Goggins (The Accountant) as he portrays the titular fictional legendary Ford pitchman. The film was originally scheduled to make its world premiere at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival which was cancelled last March due to the ongoing global pandemic. Despite this, Imagine Documentaries is still reportedly planning to release John Bronco sometime this year. Check out the video in the player below!
John Bronco is a world class racer, a rodeo star, a sex symbol and a greatest pitchman in history until he suddenly disappeared. The film will tell an unbelievable story of the rise, fall and ultimate redemption of the legendary pitchman for the Ford Bronco.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “Who Is John Bronco? – Some have said that if you were famous before the internet, you might as well never have existed. Such is the case for John Bronco, the greatest pitchman who ever lived. In 1966, Ford tapped him to race their new prototype SUV at the Baja 500 in Mexico. Not only did he win, but he gave a rousing speech that rallied a nation. Legend has it that Ford named the new car “Bronco” after John, made him the face of their campaign and skyrocketed him to stardom.
His commercials were on every channel and his jingle went triple-platinum. John launched his own cologne, breakfast cereal, video game, action figure, you name it. He was the very embodiment of the American dream, that is, until it all came crashing down.”
Joining Goggins are Tim Meadows as Bronco’s manager Donovan Piggot, Tim Baltz as Ford Motor Company Archivist Daniel Stacks, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bo Derek, Ellen Karsten as Bronco’s first wife Bebe Parker and John Moschitta Jr. Dennis Quaid will be narrating the mockumentary.
John Bronco is directed by Jake Szymanski, who is known for directing Tour de Pharmacy and 7 Days in Hell which both centered on a fake sports legends. It is produced by Marc Gilbar, Meredith Kaulfers, Rebecca Donaghe and Maggie McLean with Sara Bernstein, Justin Wilkes, Alessandro F. Uzielli, Tara Schaeffer, Michael Sagol, Josh Morse, Casey Wooden set as producers.
