Max Reload and the Nether Blasters trailer unveiled
MVD Entertainment Group has unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming video game-based horror comedy Max Reload and the Nether Blasters featuring nerdy icons Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob Reboot) and Greg Grunberg (Heroes). The trailer can be viewed in the player below!
Written and directed by Scott Conditt and Jeremy Tremp, the film follows small-town video game store clerk Max Jenkins as he discovers the only-known copy of Nether Dungeon, the legendary lost installment of the Nether Game series and accidentally unleashes the ancient “Curse of the Ages,” which turns his friends and family into possessed ghouls hell-bent on destroying civilization. It’s up to Max and his best friends Reggie and Liz, along with old-school gaming gurus Eugene Wylder (Grunberg) and Barton Garbowski (Joseph D. Reitman, Happy!) to figure out how to beat the dark forces of The Nether before it’s Game Over for humanity.
The film’s cast is led by Tom Plumley (Dimension 404), Joey Morgan (Critters: A New Binge) and Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone) and also features Smith, Grunberg, Reitman, Lin Shaye (The Grudge), Martin Kove (The Karate Kid), Jesse Kove (VFW) and Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation).
The horror comedy is produced by Conditt, Tremp and Grunberg and is executive produced by Rob Edwards, Charles Irion, Brian McKeaney, Tom Peterson, Daniel Floreani and Jaime Gangi.
Max Reload and the Nether Blasters is set to hit select theaters on August 7 followed by a VOD release on August 11.
