Here We Are Trailer: Meryl Streep Narrates Apple TV+’s New Animated Short Film

In celebration of this year’s Earth Day, Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for their upcoming animated short film adaptation of author Oliver Jeffers’ New York Times bestselling children’s book titled Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth. Featuring multi-award winning actress Meryl Streep as the narrator, the animated short will be available for streaming on Friday, April 17. Check out the video in the player below!

First published in 2017, Here We Are is a picture book that Oliver Jeffers had created for his son as the it offers a rare personal look inside his own hopes and wishes for his child–and in doing so gifts children and parents everywhere with a gently sweet and humorous missive about our world and those who call it home.

Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth follows a precocious 7-year-old who, over the course of Earth Day, learns about the wonders of the planet from his parents — and from a mysterious exhibit at the aptly titled Museum of Everything. The insightful and poignant short film is narrated by Streep.

The short film features a stellar voice cast consists of 3-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep (Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Ant Bully), Emmy winner Chris O’Dowd (State of the Union, Epic), Oscar nominee Ruth Negga (Loving, Ad Astra) and Jacob Tremblay (Room, Harley Quinn).

Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth short film is directed by Philip Hunt, who also co-adapted the script with Oscar winner Luke Matheny. It is a production by independent animation studio, Studio AKA with Sue Goffe, Hunt, and Jeffers serving as executive producers.
