Brainstorm Media has released the official trailer for the upcoming We Have Always Lived in the Castle, giving us our first look at Taissa Farmiga and Sebastian Stan’s new mystery thriller film. Based on the Shirley Jackson novel of the same name, the film will be released in theaters and on demand on May 17. Check out the video below!
We Have Always Lived in the Castle follows the story of Merricat Blackwood, a girl who lives on the family estate with her sister Constance and her uncle Julian. Not long ago there were seven Blackwoods—until a fatal dose of arsenic found its way into the sugar bowl one terrible night. Acquitted of the murders, Constance has returned home, where Merricat protects her from the curiousity and hostility of the villagers. Their days pass in happy isolation until cousin Charles (Stan) appears. Only Merricat can see the danger, and she must act swiftly to keep Constance from his grasp.
The film is directed by Stacie Passon from a script written by Mark Kruger and Passon. It stars Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story, The Nun) as Merricat Blackwood, Sebastian Stan (Avengers: Infinity War) as Charles Blackwood, Alexandra Daddario (Baywatch) as Constance Blackwood and Crispin Glover (Back to the Future) as Julian Blackwood.
The thriller film is executive produced by Academy Award-winning actor Michael Douglas through his Further Films banner. Jared Goldman and Robert Mitas are producing with Robert Halmi, Jr. also serving as an executive producer.
