Screen Media Films has released the official trailer for the upcoming biographical drama The Mercy, starring Oscar winners Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener, The Bourne Legacy, Cloud One) and Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man, Kingsman: The Golden Circle). Check out the trailer below!

Following his Academy Award-nominated film The Theory of Everything, James Marsh directs the incredible true story of Donald Crowhurst (Colin Firth), an amateur sailor who competed in the 1968 Sunday Times Golden Globe Race in the hope of becoming the first person in history to single-handedly circumnavigate the globe without stopping. With an unfinished boat and his business and house on the line, Donald leaves his wife, Clare (Rachel Weisz) and their children behind, hesitantly embarking on an adventure on his boat the Teignmouth Electron.

Also starring in the film are David Thewlis and Mark Gatiss. The Mercy was written by Scott Z. Burns who produced alongside Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin. Dan MacRae, Diarmuid McKeown, and Jonny Persey serve as executive producers.

The Mercy will debut in theaters for one night only on Thursday, December 6, with additional screenings in select theaters.
