Lily Collins and Sam Claflin to Star in Love, Rosie

Mister Smith Entertainment (MSE) CEO David Garrett announced today that MSE will introduce Constantin Film’s latest feature, the romantic comedy Love, Rosie, to international buyers this week at the upcoming European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin. Lily Collins (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Mirror Mirror) stars in the title role, and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Snow White and the Huntsman, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) portrays her best friend and star-crossed lover, Alex.
Christian Ditter (Wickie and the Treasure of the Gods, French for Beginners) directs the film from a screenplay by Juliette Towhidi (Calendar Girls) based on the best-selling novel “Where Rainbows End” by internationally renowned author Cecelia Ahern. Ahern’s second novel follows her bestseller turned box office hit “P.S. I Love You.” Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, “Resident Evil” franchise) and Canyon Creek Films’ Simon Brooks (White Noise), will produce. Constantin Film’s Head of Film & TV, Martin Moszkowicz, (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, “Resident Evil” franchise, 3096 Days) will executive produce. Principal photography will commence in May 2013.

In the film, Rosie Dunne and her best friend Alex take a leap of faith, both on life and on each other, when they decide to go to America together to attend University. But fate has other plans for Rosie who discovers that she is pregnant after a crazy night out with the most popular boy in school.  She encourages Alex to go without her, hopeful that she’ll catch up with him eventually. Over the next twelve years, their lives change dramatically but the undeniable connection remains. At the back of Rosie’s mind is always the question, what if fortune had taken another turn and they were meant to be more than just good friends. When ultimately presented with the opportunity, will they gamble everything for the chance to be together?

“We anticipate buyers will appreciate the fusion of a first class script by Juliette from Cecelia’s wonderful book, a visionary director in Christian, and two gifted rising young stars in Lily and Sam,” commented David Garrett.
