Sarah Paulson signs on for Lionsgate’s Run
Emmy-winning actress Sarah Paulson, well-known for her work on multiple Ryan Murphy series, will continue her extended career in the world of films with a starring role in the upcoming Lionsgate thriller Run.
Co-written by Searching‘s Aneesh Chaganty and Sev Ohanian and directed by Chaganty, the film will follow a teenage girl who has been raised in isolation by her mother (Paulson) all of her life. However, her idyllic life begins to become unraveled as she discovers her mother has a sinister hidden secret.
Chaganty and Ohanian’s previous work, Searching, was a huge hit upon release over the summer, grossing over $65 million at the box office and receiving rave reviews from both critics and audiences for its suspenseful premise, powerful performances and unique style of being seen exclusively from screens.
Paulson is best known for her roles in the American Horror Story franchise, with its current crossover season Apocalypse just passing the halfway point and receiving positive reviews from critics and audiences, as well as for her Emmy-winning performance in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. She will next be seen in the post-apocalyptic horror film Bird Box co-starring Sandra Bullock (Ocean’s 8), which will hit Netflix on Dec. 21, and horror-thriller Glass, the follow-up to the 2016 hit Split, which itself was a follow-up to the 2000 moderate hit Unbreakable, from M. Night Shyamalan, which will hit theaters Jan. 18.
Production on Run will begin Oct. 31.
