Jennifer Lopez’s Second Act moves to Christmas season
The upcoming Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy Second Act from STX Films has just had its release date moved from the crowded Thanksgiving weekend to closer to the heartwarming Christmas season, according to Deadline.
The film was originally set to hit theaters on November 21 but will now be released on December 14, moving it away from the weekend packed with Ralph Breaks the Internet, Robin Hood, Creed II and Green Book to the more middle-of-the-road feature weekend that will see Mortal Engines and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hit theaters.
Second Act is a comedy in the vein of Working Girl and Maid In Manhattan. Jennifer Lopez stars as Maya, a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams. Until, that is, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts and that it is never too late for a Second Act.
Leah Remini (Kevin Can Wait), Vanessa Hudgens (Spring Breakers), Treat Williams (127 Hours), and Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us) also star in the movie directed by Peter Segal (Get Smart) and written by Justin Zackham and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.
Second Act is produced by Lopez, Goldsmith-Thomas, Zackham, and Benny Medina.
