A Preview of the Django Unchained Comic Book

It’s a known fact that Quentin Tarantino’s scripts are nearly close to novels in their full form, so a lot of it gets trimmed off by the time it makes it to the big screen. Now, Tarantino’s full script for Django Unchained is being adapted into a comic book mini-series by DC Comics. The comic will feature all the details that Tarantino unfortunately had to cut out of the film fully rendered by artist R. M. Guéra (Scalped). The series will last five issues with the first issue being released next week on Dec. 19. Below, you’ll see one of the covers by artist Jim Lee along with the introduction by Tarantino himself (via EW).

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, “Django Unchained” stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

Django Unchained opens in theaters on Christmas Day.
