Jerry Bruckheimer has stepped in as producer on the upcoming Beware the Night, Variety reports. Sinister director Scott Derrickson is still attached to helm with Eric Bana in talks to star. Derrickson recently rewrote the screenplay, based on Ralph Sarchie and Lisa Collier Cool’s paranormal thriller. Published in 2001, the book is officially described as follows:
A sixteen-year NYPD veteran, Ralph Sarchie works out of the 46th Precinct in New York’s south Bronx. But it is his other job that he calls “the Work”: investigating cases of demonic possession and assisting in the exorcisms of humanity’s most ancient–and most dangerous–foes. Most recently, Bruckheimer produced Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and is currently working on a re-teaming with that franchise’s Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp with The Lone Ranger.
Bana, meanwhile, recently starred in Hanna and can next be seen in the terrorism thriller Closed Circuit, set for release on August 28, 2013.
