Lucas Hedges & Sterling K. Brown to Star in Musical Waves

Variety is reporting that actors Lucas Hedges (Lady Bird, Manchester by the Sea) and Sterling K. Brown (Hotel Artemis, This is Us) will star in Waves, a new movie musical from A24.

The film is the brainchild of writer/director Trey Edward Shults, who hit big on the horror scene last year with It Comes at Night. The movie is described as a musical about teenage life, focusing on two young couples as they navigate their relationships. Much like Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, Waves will be almost entirely synchronized to music, with a mix of contemporary songs and a score by Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl).

Written and directed by Shults, Waves will be produced by Kevin Turen and Jim Wilson, with filming starting in Florida next month and additional casting to be announced soon.

Hedges will next be seen opposite Nicole Kidman and Joel Edgerton in the gay conversion drama Boy Erased, while Brown will appear in Shane Black’s sequel The Predator.
