Matt Reeves to Direct Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

ON has learned that Matt Reeves will direct Dawn of the Planet of the Apes for Twentieth Century Fox Film.

Reeves’ credits include Cloverfield and Let Me In. He also co-created the TV series “Felicity.”

The first film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, was directed by Rupert Wyatt and earned an impressive $481.8 million worldwide on a budget of $93 million. The August 5, 2011 release starred James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo and Andy Serkis.

The studio previously set a Memorial Day 2014 release for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa are providing the screenplay. Returning producers include Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
