Ron Moore Adapting A Knight’s Tale for the Small Screen

Deadline is reporting that “Battlestar Galactica” executive producer Ron Moore will adapt Columbia Pictures’ A Knight’s Tale for ABC. The series will be based on the 2001 hit that starred Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight).

In the film, an earnest young commoner poses as a knight and establishes himself in the jousting tournaments of Europe. He and a princess fall in love, but she is unaware of his deceit and common roots.

The film earned $117.4 million at the worldwide box office. You can watch the original trailer below.

According to the site, “the series is expected to stay close to the premise and the style of the movie – it is described as a medieval fantasy incorporating modern music and themes that follows the journey of a young man who starts out impersonating a knight of the realm and ends up becoming one.”

Moore will also executive produce with his producing partner Maril Davis as well as the film’s writer/director/producer Brian Helgeland and producer Todd Black.
